Study Information

New Zealand Clinical Research is trialling an investigational study device that could help people with Type 1 Diabetes.

You are invited to take part in a clinical research study evaluating an investigational device called Abbott’s Continuous Dual Glucose Ketone (DGK) Monitoring System. This device is designed to continuously monitor glucose and ketone levels in people with Type 1 diabetes.

The DGK Monitoring System is a wearable sensor placed just under the skin that continuously measures glucose and ketone levels. A compatible smartphone app is used to start the sensor and automatically receive glucose and ketone readings via Bluetooth. The system is intended for people aged 2 years and older with diabetes, including pregnant women. It provides real‑time readings, trends, and alerts when levels are too high or too low and may reduce the need for routine finger‑prick testing.

This study (2026 FULL 25709) is being funded by Abbott Diabetes Care, Inc. The ethical aspects of the study have been approved by the Health and Disability Ethics Committees (HDEC).

Requirements

Diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes
Aged at least 2 years old

What is Involved?

Study Visits: Up to 4 clinic visits.

Payment: $250 per visit before tax
