Study Information

This study will test an investigational medication, named JADE101, designed for the possible treatment of a type of inflammation that leads to kidney disease.

Immunoglobulin A nephropathy (IgAN) is a chronic kidney disease where the immune system attacks the kidneys and causes inflammation in the kidney’s filtering unit (glomeruli). This chronic inflammation of the kidneys, over time, can lead to a decline in kidney function. Around 30-45% of people diagnosed with IgAN develop kidney failure within 20 to 25 years. The cause of IgAN is unknown, but research suggests that APRIL (A Proliferation Inducing Ligand), a molecule that helps the body make immunoglobulin A (IgA), plays a critical role. In IgAN, an increased APRIL level leads to an increased IgA level triggering kidney damage events.

JADE101 is a monoclonal antibody that is made to block APRIL, and, therefore, reduce the inflammation and protect kidney function.

This is an investigational medicine because it has not been approved by MedSafe or other drug regulatory authorities.

This study (2025 FULL 22946) is being funded by Jade Biosciences, Inc and has been approved by the Northern B Health and Disability Ethics Committee.
