Study Information

New Zealand Clinical Research is trialling an investigational medication that is being developed for the treatment of pain. Almost 1 in 6 people in New Zealand have reported that they experience chronic pain which affects their quality of life. This medication is being investigated for the first time in humans to evaluate how safe and well tolerated it is, in healthy people.

The investigational medicine, GRT7041, works by blocking pathways in the nervous system that are associated with feeling and controlling pain. It is hoped that through blocking these pathways, GRT7041 will be an effective treatment for acute and chronic pain.

This is an investigational drug because it has not been approved by MedSafe or other drug regulatory authorities.

This study 2025 FULL 23913 is being funded by Grünenthal GmbH and has been approved by the Health and Disability Ethics Committee.
