Study Description

New Zealand Clinical Research is conducting a pain tolerance study.

One in five New Zealanders live with persistent pain, making it hard to sleep, work and enjoy life. Current pain therapies are limited and may increase risk of abuse of dependence. There is a large unmet need for new, more effective pain therapies to be available to people who need them.

This study is evaluating the pain relief effect using a cold pressor test (CPT) in healthy males by comparing a pain medicine called suzetrigine (approved for use in the USA for acute and chronic pain, and licensed under the name Journavx) and comparing this to a placebo (a substance that looks like suzetrigine but contains no active medication). [OR This study is evaluating the pain relief effect using a cold pressor test (CPT) in healthy males by comparing a pain medicine and comparing this to a placebo.] The results of this study will help facilitate the design of studies with investigational pain medications.

This is an investigational medication because it has not been approved by MedSafe or other drug regulatory authorities in New Zealand.

This study LTG-OBS-103 is being funded by Latigo Therapeutics and has been approved by the Health and Disability Ethics Committee (HDEC).
