Study Information
This study will test an investigational medication, named HB0043-HV-01-01, designed to treat hidradenitis suppurative (HS), also known as acne inversa. HS is a chronic, inflammatory skin disease characterised by painful, recurring boils or lumps, [often with pus-filled bumps or hard bumps beneath the skin]. It is estimated that globally 1-4% of the population has HS.
Current treatment options include wound care and management or pain and itching. For some people steroid or antibiotic treatments may be used, in serious cases, surgery is required.
HB0043 works by blocking the function of specific proteins (IL-36 and IL-17A) that are associated with an immune and inflammation response. It is hoped that by blocking this function, HB0043 will be able to be used to treat HS and reduce the symptoms experienced by these patients.
The purpose of this study is to:
- How safe and well tolerated HB0043 is, in healthy participants.
- How a single dose of HB0043 is processed and cleared by the body.
- How the body responds to a single dose of HB0043.
- The body’s immune response to HB0043.
This is an investigational medicine because it has not been approved by MedSafe or other drug regulatory authorities.
This study (2025 FULL 22653) is being funded by Shanghai Huaota Biopharmaceutical Co., Ltd and has been approved by the Northern B Health and Disability Ethics Committee.
